Hana from Texas asks: Can you use AP study guides for CLEP tests? Would you recommend or not?

Answer: When I first started preparing for my CLEP tests in 2006, I used a lot of AP study guides, but not anymore. Five years ago, AP changed every exam to align “down” with Common Core (k-12) while CLEP continues to align “up” with 100/200 level college courses. This change means that exam study guides OLDER THAN 2014 should be okay to use for CLEP, but my recommendation is to pick your CLEP prep products designed for CLEP prep.
My favorite CLEP prep books? REA Guides – they are concise, have been around forever, update frequently, and contain excellent practice tests in the back. You can always find them new or used and often they are available at your public library!
