Scholarships for Moms

I love Jessica’s JLV Scholarship blog and read it often.  Yesterday, I learned that there are a handful of scholarships earmarked each year for moms and dads!  These scholarships specifically help parents earn a degree.   Thanks Jessica – this is an amazing list!

Parent Scholarships

Don’t forget, EVERY one of the 30 ways to earn college credit that is an option for your teen is ALSO an option for YOU!  Granted, parents can’t use dual enrollment, but you can still use the community college.  If you’ve tossed around the idea of completing your own degree, it certainly couldn’t hurt to put your name in the hat for these scholarships.

I have 3 key funding tips for parents who may want to return to (or start) a degree:

  1.  Reduce the number of credits you need by DIYing college credit at home. Just like you’ve done while homeschooling for college credit, the fewer credits you have to complete when you start, means the fewer you have to pay for!
  2. For every $100 you need to fund each year, apply for 1 scholarship.  If you need $600, then you should apply for 6 scholarships.  Do this every single year.
  3. Just because these scholarships are specifically for parents, don’t assume that other scholarships are not!  Unless a scholarship specifically states an age or grade level, it’s fair game.

This small list is specifically for parents:
