You can’t bring your own calculator. Here’s what you need to know about the 6 exams that use an integrated calculator and an on-screen practice tool.

On CLEP exam day, test takers aren’t allowed to bring their own calculators into the testing room. There are only 6 CLEP exams that include an exam calculator on the screen. If a calculator is allowed, it will display on the screen. If it’s not allowed, you’ll have to do the calculation long-hand.

  1. Calculus– A graphing calculator, the TI-84 Plus CE, is available to students during Section 2 of the CLEP Calculus exam. Only certain questions require this calculator.
  2. Chemistry– A scientific (nongraphing) calculator, the TI-30XS MultiView, is available to students during these exams. Students are expected to know how and when to use the calculator.
  3. College Algebra– A scientific (nongraphing) calculator, the TI-30XS MultiView, is available to students during these exams. Students are expected to know how and when to use the calculator.
  4. College Mathematics – A scientific (nongraphing) calculator, the TI-30XS MultiView, is available to students during these exams. Students are expected to know how and when to use the calculator.
  5. Financial Accounting– A four-function calculator is available during the exam as part of the testing software. Because the use of this calculator is straightforward, it’s NOT covered by the ETS Calculator Practice page.
  6. Precalculus – The TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator is integrated into the exam software. It’s available during Section 1 of the exam. Only certain questions require this calculator.
