April Topic: Game Design & Development

April Special Guest: Mark Anderson

Building on a background in traditional art and design, Mark’s 25+ years in the games industry has taken him from the first polygonal sports games to building and managing art teams on some of the most beloved titles in the industry.

He continues his journey at Archetype Entertainment, where the team is building a multiplatform roleplaying game in a brand-new science fiction universe.

As a Principal Art Sourcer-er at Blizzard Entertainment, Mark helped find and grow some of the brightest artists around the world for all of Blizzard’s internal game teams. Unable to stay away from development he then focused on mentoring and building the Hearthstone team as Art Manager.

As Art Director at multiplayer specialist Certain Affinity, he built and directed art teams on some of the top console shooters in the world, including Halo, Doom and Call of Duty.

Mark helped innovate and drive vision as a technical artist, art director, and game director with some of worlds most famous superheroes on the multi platform MMO DC Universe Online.

A founding member of Sony’s Santa Monica Studio, he successfully created the company’s first technical art department. The combination of that teams’ artist tools as well as his contributions as an art director and FX artist were an integral part of building the God of War franchise.
